2020 The God who Speaks: The year 2020 will be the 10th anniversary of Verbum Domini – Pope Benedict XVI’s Apostolic Exhortation on ‘The Word of the Lord’ and the 1,600 anniversary of St. Jerome’s death. These dates have motivated the Bishops’ Conference of England & Wales to make 2020 a year of focus on The God Who Speaks. Throughout the year starting on the First Sunday of Advent (1st December 2019) there will be a range of events, activities and creative resources to participate in all round the country.: In this Diocese the launch of 2020 ‘The God Who Speaks’ will take place during Evening Prayer at the Cathedral on Sunday 1st December at 3.00pm.   Although the principal launch of 2020 The God Who Speaks will be in the Cathedral at 3pm but in order to facilitate the greatest number of people in the Diocese participating in the inauguration, Solemn Evening Prayer will also be celebrated in St Thérèse, Abergele at 4pm and Dolgellau Carmel at 4.15pm.

National Youth Sunday: Significance – National Youth Sunday 2019 will take place on the feast of Christ the King. National Youth Sunday represents an opportunity to explicitly recognise young people as a gift in the Church and affirm their contribution in the life of the local and universal Church. It also provides parishes with an opportunity to focus on the role of young people in the Sunday liturgy and in parish life. Most importantly, it is a chance to pray for and alongside young people. The theme is ‘Significance’ taken from Christus Vivit: “For him, you have worth; you are not insignificant. You are important to him, for you are the work of his hands. That is why he is concerned about you and looks to you with affection” (CV, 115). All resources for National Youth Sunday are online at http://www.nationalyouthsunday.com. NYS theme, Homily notes, Prayers of inter-cession and Children’s Liturgy resources are available online to help facilitate National Youth Sunday in your parishes. May every parish in our diocese be united in praying for young people that they may come to know more fully their significance and the love the Lord has for them. May every young person in our Church know by the love of you and me, their brothers and sisters in faith, of their worth and their significance in God’s eyes.
